Introduction to MPLS
This session provides an overview of the applications and benefits that Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) can offer to service providers and enterprises. The basic MPLS technology components will be discussed, as well as the various market segments where MPLS is being positioned. An overview of MPLS layer-3 VPNs and layer-2 VPNs will be presented, covering technical components and typical deployment use cases. Finally, an overview will be provided of some of the key innovation areas and futures of MPLS. This session is for networking technologists, managers, and executives from service providers and enterprises, who want to learn about MPLS technology basics and their applicability to real-world networking environments. Attendees should have basic knowledge of IP networks and any one of the routing protocols. This course is a prerequisite to any of the other MPLS courses.
