Cisco Catalyst 6800 Switch Architecture

This session presents an in-depth study of the architecture of the new Cisco Catalyst 6800 Series switches. It begins with an architectural overview of the Supervisor 2T, along with 6700, 6800 & 6900 Series switching modules, and the new C6807-XL & C6880-X chassis. Next, is an in-depth review of internal forwarding engine packet processing, including Layer 2 forwarding and Layer 3 (IP unicast) forwarding. Then, Flexible NetFlow and Access Control List processing are examined. Finally, the session will complete with a review of a set of common inter-module Packet Walks. This session is for Enterprise and Service Provider engineers who have worked with Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series switches, and wish to become familiar with the new Cisco Catalyst 6800 Series switches. A basic understanding of multilayer switching technologies, and the basic operation of the Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series is assumed. Basic knowledge of routing protocols as well as traditional campus design is recommended
